Neutrality charter
yourstate.us publishes the public record on every member of both parties and sells tools for working with it. Anyone may buy them: parties, campaigns, committees, unions, companies, newsrooms and advocacy groups on every side. These are the rules that make that possible, and the evidence that they are kept.
The rules
- One price for everyone. Every plan has one published price, the same for every party, campaign, committee, union, company and person. Political parties, committees and candidates pay that published price and never less: under federal campaign-finance law, selling to a campaign below the usual and normal charge counts as a contribution to it (11 CFR 100.52(d)), and this site does not make contributions to anyone. Right now nothing is for sale: downloadable reports are free to every account, on the same terms for every party, campaign, committee, union, company and person. There are no discounts or promotional prices on any plan today. If discounts are ever offered, they will go to a class of buyer, such as schools or newsrooms, never to a political committee, and they will be listed here.
- The same product for every side. Nothing is sold exclusively to one party, one race, one state or one cause. There is no custom framing, no editorial service and no opposition research for hire. What one customer can buy, every customer can buy.
- Money never changes a page. No one can pay to change what a page says about any person, where they appear in a list, or what is shown first. Paid plans add tools for working with the record, such as exports and alerts. The record itself is the same for everyone, and free to read.
- Describe, never grade. The site publishes no scores, grades, endorsements or best-and-worst lists of politicians, and no analysis that tells you what a record means. Ranking places by a measured indicator is fine; ranking people as better or worse is not. One exception, named rather than hidden: the Democratic–Republican scale places a member’s votes between the side most Democrats took and the side most Republicans took on the same roll calls. It is counted from votes the member personally cast, never from a party label, donors or speeches, and the method and every vote behind it are published on how the scale is worked out. It is a position, not a grade.
- Symmetry. Every feature applies to every member of both parties and to every state we cover. Nothing is built around one party, one member or one issue.
- Sourced and dated. Every figure names the government or academic source it came from and the period it describes, so any number on the site can be checked against the original.
- Correlation is not causation. Wherever a law or a member is shown beside a trend, the page says that the two appearing together does not mean one caused the other.
- Corrections in public. When a published figure is wrong, it is fixed and the fix is logged below with its date. Nothing is removed from the log.
Who pays us
Paying accounts by kind of buyer, as of 27 September 2026. Every category is listed whether or not anyone in it pays, so an uneven picture looks uneven. A category with between one and 4 accounts reads “fewer than 5”, so that no customer can be identified from this table; no customer is ever named here without agreeing to it. The counts are updated every quarter.
There are no paying customers yet. Paid plans open after the site launches, and the first counts will appear here at the end of the quarter in which they do.

Corrections
If a figure on this site is wrong, email corrections@yourstate.us with the page’s address and what you believe it should say. Offices, campaigns and members of the public are all welcome, and all get the same answer: we check the page against its source. If the page is wrong, we fix it and log the fix here. If the source itself is wrong, the page keeps showing what the source says, because that is what the record is, and gains a note saying the figure is disputed and by whom.
No corrections have been logged yet.
