The office of county surveyor in counties having a population of 500,000 or over, according to the latest federal census is hereby abolished.

The office of county surveyor in counties having a population of 500,000 or over, according to the latest federal census is hereby abolished.
The provisions of this act shall not become operative in any county of the state to which it may apply unless and until it is submitted to a vote of the qualified electors voting thereon at the next general election after the passage of this act or after any such county shall reach a population of 500,000 or over.
