CHAPTER 839
AN ACT to establish the eminent domain procedure law, constituting
chapter seventy-three of the consolidated laws, and to repeal
the condemnation law, relating to the acquisition, by
condemnation, of real property for a public use
Became a law August 11, l977, with the approval of the Governor.
Passed by a majority vote, three-fifths being present.
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and
Assembly, do enact as follows:
CHAPTER 73 OF THE CONSOLIDATED LAWS

Article 1. Purpose; short title; definitions; applicability (Secs.
101-104)
2. Determination of the need and location of a public project
prior to acquisition (Secs. 201-208)

4. Vesting; possession; abandonment (Secs. 401-406)
5. Procedure for determining just compensation (Secs. 501-514)
6. Special procedure for claims under twenty-five thousand
dollars (Secs. 601-604)
