The judiciary, in consultation with the department of corrections and rehabilitation and the department of the attorney general, shall establish and administer a statewide program that permits the posting of monetary bail seven-days-a-week for defendants who remain in the custody of the director of corrections and rehabilitation. This program shall be made available to any defendant for whom a monetary amount of bail has been set by the police, other law enforcement agency, or the court. The judiciary may contract with a single vendor to administer the program. The vendor may charge users of the program a service fee.
