As used in this chapter— In the case of an individual employed by a public agency, such term means— any individual employed by the Government of the United States— any individual employed by a State, political subdivision of a State, or an interstate governmental agency, other than such an individual— who— The term “employee” does not include any individual who volunteers to perform services for a public agency which is a State, a political subdivision of a State, or an interstate governmental agency, if— In determining the wage an employer is required to pay a tipped employee, the amount paid such employee by the employee’s employer shall be an amount equal to— For purposes of paragraph (1), the activities performed by any person or persons— “Enterprise engaged in commerce or in the production of goods for commerce” means an enterprise that— “Employee in fire protection activities” means an employee, including a firefighter, paramedic, emergency medical technician, rescue worker, ambulance personnel, or hazardous materials worker, who—
