This subchapter applies to: (1) an insurer, including an insurance company, a reciprocal or interinsurance exchange, a mutual insurance company, a capital stock insurance company, a county mutual insurance company, a Lloyd's plan, or any other legal entity authorized to write residential property insurance in this state; and (2) an insurer's affiliate, as described by this code, if the affiliate is authorized to write residential property insurance.
