In addition, members may receive compensation for their service, as determined by the Sacramento district board at an open regular meeting. The compensation shall not exceed two hundred dollars ($200) per day of attending board and committee meetings, or for conducting official business as authorized by the board. However, the compensation shall not exceed twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) in any one year. (b) The Sacramento district board may, by resolution adopted at an open regular meeting, increase the amount of compensation provided by this section not more than once every 12 months. An increase in compensation shall be in an amount equal to the percent change in the California Consumer Price Index for the most recent calendar year, rounded to the nearest one-tenth of 1 percent, except that if that change is greater than 10 percent, the increase in compensation shall be no more than 10 percent. (c) The Sacramento district board shall not provide for automatic future increases in compensation for its members.
