H.R. 2754: On Agreeing to the Amendment — H.R.2754 BY CRANE (R-IL) -- SHIPBUILDING TRADE AGREEMENT ACT (HOUSE AGREED TO THE BATEMAN AMENDMENT THAT DELAYS THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF TITLE XI LOAN GUARANTEE AMENDMENTS UNTIL JANUARY 1, 1999, ESTABLISHES THAT THE JONES ACT OR OTHER PROVISIONS OF U.S. LAW SET FORTH IN ANNEX II OF THE AGREEMENT WILL NOT BE AFFECTED, PROVIDES THAT NATIONAL SECURITY INTERESTS CAN BE INVOKED, DEFINES AND EXCLUDES MILITARY RESERVE VESSELS FROM THE AGREEMENT, AND ESTABLISHES A REMEDY FOR U.S. SHIPBUILDERS WHO LOSE A SALE TO A FOREIGN SHIPBUILDER.)
