S. 2493: TO OFFER AN AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE SECTION OF S. 2493 THAT AUTHORIZES THE SECRETARY OF LABOR TO INITIATE A PROGRAM TO COMPENSATE THE AIRLINE EMPLOYEES THAT LOSE THEIR JOBS OR FACE SALARY CUTS AS A RESULT OF THIS LEGISLATION. THE ZORINSKY AMENDMENT STRIKES THIS LABOR PROTECTION PROVISION AND REPLACES IT WITH A PROVISION REQUIRING THAT PROTECTED EMPLOYEES BE GIVEN A HIRING PRIORITY BY OTHER AIR CARRIERS, INSTEAD OF COMPENSATION.
